Net metering allows solar homeowners to export excess electricity to the grid and receive a credit on their bill. Under RA 9513 (Renewable Energy Act), Meralco and all distribution utilities must accommodate net metering for systems under 100 kW.
In April 2026, the Department of Energy issued DC2026-01-00012, which significantly cut processing times. LGUs must now issue electrical permits within 3 working days and Certificates of Final Electrical Inspection (CFEI) within 7 working days. Meralco must approve or reject complete net metering applications within 10 working days.
The fees are fixed: the DIMC fee (smart meter swap) is capped at ₱3,000 for residential properties. The ERC Certificate of Compliance fee is a flat ₱1,500 paid via LBP Link.BizPortal. Electronic signatures are now fully accepted — notarization is no longer required.
