1. Who is your licensed REE, and can I verify their PRC number? If they deflect or can’t give you a name and PRC number immediately, stop.
2. Are you DOE accredited? Without DOE accreditation, the installer cannot process your Meralco net metering application under their own name. They may say they’ll ‘handle it’ — find out exactly how.
3. What happens if a panel or inverter fails in Year 3? Get the warranty claim process in writing. Who do you call? What’s the response time? Does the installer cover labor for warranty replacements?
4. Is the system sized based on my actual kWh consumption, or just my roof space? Right-sizing means analyzing your bill pattern, not maximizing panels on your roof. If they propose a system without asking for 12 months of bills, that’s a red flag.
5. What documentation will I receive? You should receive: signed contract, as-built electrical plans stamped by REE, CFEI certificate, signed Net Metering Agreement, Authority to Operate, and warranty cards. If any of these are missing at handover, your installation is incomplete.
