REE stands for Registered Electrical Engineer — a PRC-licensed engineer with formal qualifications to design and supervise electrical installations. For solar, the REE is the person who designs your Single-Line Diagram, supervises the installation, stamps your electrical permit application, and is legally liable if the electrical design causes harm.
Without a licensed REE, your installation is illegal. The LGU will not issue an electrical permit. Meralco will not process your net metering application. Your CAR insurance may be void if something goes wrong.
When evaluating an installer, ask directly: ‘Who is your REE, and can I see their PRC license number?’ Verify it at prc.gov.ph. Check that the license is current — PRC licenses renew every 3 years and expired licenses are invalid.
One more thing: the REE must be physically present during your installation — not just available by phone. Their stamp on the documents means they personally supervised the work. If your installer tells you the REE ‘just signs the papers’ and won’t be on site, walk away.
